Stone Lion referral services

Stone Lion has been known for its ophthalmology referral services since Raymond Long was with the practice in the 1970s.

Sally Turner who holds a Diploma in Veterinary Ophthalmology now continues this discipline.

Referral specialists at work

The extensive redevelopment of the Stone Lion Veterinary Centre in 1996 made it possible for us to expand the range of referral disciplines.

The first to join were:
Clare Rusbridge, neurology
Norman Johnston, dentistry and oral surgery
Ewan Ferguson, dermatology.

The appointment of Sean Henney expanded our range of services to include internal medicine.

Pauline Sell joined us in 1998 to offer surgical referrals.

Recent additions to our referral team are Bernard Walsh who offers a diagnostic imaging service, Robert Thomas and Roger Baker. We would like to welcome them all to the team.

Many of our Veterinary Surgeons spoke at BSAVA and our Head Nurse also gave a presentation on good pharmacy practice.

A brief history of the practice

The present buildings are based around premises which were built for a veterinary surgeon in 1874.

A stone lion The practice derives its name from a pair of stone lions, made in Lambeth around 200 years ago, which stand outside the front door.

Trevor Farrell purchased the practice in 1995 and undertook a major redevelopment and modernisation of the premises the following year.
